Arcade Fire, Funeral 2004
At once sombre, empowering, mournful, and euphoric; Funeral is one of the most highly-regarded albums of the past few decades. Equally harrowing and hopeful, the album explores the concepts of mortality and loss, each track threaded together with somnambulant harmonies, abandoned landscapes, and theatrical but sincere lyrics. I mean if I just wrote one beautiful line in my life I'd be pretty happy with 'Children, wake up, Hold your mistake up before they turn the Summer into dust' - or 'Sleeping is giving in, No matter what the time is' for that matter.
Record Reverie is a watercolour illustration series of my favourite albums. Look at more illustrations from the series here.
